What a weekend. Perhaps the best way to approach this is chronological order. On Saturday, I watched Syracuse lose to Akron. It was probably the lowest point in the program’s history. I’m kind of ashamed to admit this, but Saturday’s game was the first time since I was a toddler that I couldn’t name Cuse’s starting QB. How bad was the Orange? Peter King mentioned our terribleness in his edition of Monday Morning Quarterback. Pictured above you’ll see Mr. Pants enjoying the new padded-seat section at the Dome. This photo was taken minutes before kickoff. It was without a doubt the worst crowd I can remember for a home opener. Like the steel benches underneath the orange seats, there was a sliver lining. My Dad is an Akron alum and thoroughly enjoyed watching the Zips walk all over the Orange. To celebrate one of the biggest wins in the program’s history he took Pants and I to Danzer’s for Ruebens and potato pancakes. It was delicious. Thanks Dad!
Comment of the Day
There was an announcement at the Dome about the team participating in a Turkeys for Touchdowns program designed to help needy children this Thanksgiving. Pants said, "Looks like there's going to be a lot of hungry kids this year."
Fantasy update
Remember when I mentioned what Bill Simmons said about drafting Moss and Owens? While, Gisele Bundchen’s boyfriend is out for the season and I’m stuck with Randy Moss sans QB. It’s only a matter of time before some phantom injury keeps him out until Tom’s return in 2009. To cheer us all up, here’s a You Tube clip of Gisele (about the 2:20 mark) from the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
Interview w/ D. Gross
Quick little teaser for this Friday’s post. A little while back I met Dr. Daryl Gross and asked him what, if any, role he played in bringing the Express movie to life. Turns out, a lot. Leave it to the boy from Beverly Hills High to make the biggest moment of the season a movie premiere. Anyway, I was going to submit this story to our local paper, but it never hashed out. I'll have the unfinished work for you on Friday.
You've got to be kidding
Last but not least, Fox’s Hole in the Wall. Whatever I was planning on writing is probably better left unsaid. See you Friday.
